August 13, 2014, Yahoo TV!
It’s a small world after all — at least when it comes to the latest bit of casting for FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show.
Showrunner Ryan Murphy announced via Twitter today that Jyoti Amge, who holds the Guiness Book of World Records title for “world’s smallest woman,” is the “newest cast member” of FX’s outré-scary anthology series — and included a photo of the actress alongside series star Jessica Lange.
The latest edition of AHS (premiering this fall) centers on the last freak show in America circa 1952 and also stars franchise vets Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe and Frances Conroy. New to the mix are Michael Chiklis, playing a strongman who’s married to Bassett’s character, as well as guest stars Wes Bentley, Patti LaBelle and Finn Wittrock.
Amge, who has a genetic disorder called Achondroplasia, is only 2′ 0.6″ tall.

Jessica Lange will be the ninth recipient of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Kirk Douglas award for excellence in film this year.
Lange, who won an Emmy in her first season on “American Horror Story,” will be presented with the award at a gala at Santa Barbara’s Bacara Resort and Spa on Nov. 16. She follows past recipients such as Quentin Tarantino, Harrison Ford, Robert De Niro and John Travolta.
“Jessica Lange possesses the three key elements in making it in this crazy business: talent, beauty, and intelligence,” said Kirk Douglas in a statement, “all of which have served her well and continue to do so. It is my honor to give her my award.”
Lange won the Academy Awards for best actress and supporting actress for her roles in “Blue Sky” and “Tootsie” respectively. She was also nominated for best actress in four additional roles: “Frances,” “Country,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Music Box” and has been Emmy nominated the past two years for “American Horror Story.”
The Kirk Douglas award serves as a fundraiser to the annual festival, which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary from Jan. 27 through Feb. 5. Jessica Lange and Mark Wahlberg film scenes from "The Gambler" in LA
Mail Online, February 14, 2014
She's brought up three children so she knows how to administer a good telling off.
And it looked as if Jessica Lange was drawing on past experience as she appeared to give Mark Wahlberg a piece of her mind as they filmed a scene for their new movie The Gambler in Los Angeles on Thursday. The 42-year-old plays a literary professor with a serious gambling addiction who gets in trouble with mobsters.
Mark was wearing the same outfit he was seen filming on Monday, a conservative dark suit and blue-grey button-up befitting his profession.
The American Horror Story star was dressed in a smart black business suit, black high heels and a dark brown fur wrap with a brown knitted scarf. The 64-year-old carried a large brown leather handbag to complete her character's look. At one point, she was filmed crying as she walked along.
The Gambler - which also stars Brie Larson and John Goodman - is a remake of the 1974 film starring James Caan. Rupert Wyatt, who directed Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, is directing the flick with Los Angeles providing the location. Irwin Winkler, who was a producer on the original film, also returns for the remake set for a 2015 release joined by his producer son David Winkler.

American Horror Story Season 4: Jessica Lange to Play Marlene Dietrich Type
www.wetpaint.com (Feb. 5, 204)
If Season 4 of American Horror Story will really be the last go-round for its biggest star, Jessica Lange, at least the two-time Oscar winner will go out with a bang. Co-creator Ryan Murphy says that he's fulfilling one of the 64-year-old's dreams with a tailor-made character.
First things first, though. Ryan confirms that the actress will indeed return for the fourth saga in FX's spooktastic anthology.
"Jessica will be back," Ryan tells Huffington Post. "She says it's her last [season], but I'm going to do everything I can to convince her to continue with the series because I see AHS running for decades."
So give us some dirt already, Murphy! "She'll be playing a Marlene Dietrich-type, which has always been one of her dreams," he continues.
In case you're not acquainted with the golden age of Hollywood, Marlene was a German-born actress, singer, and fashion icon. After breaking through in The Blue Angel, Marlene cemented her fame with high-profile roles in The Shanghai Express, and Desire. The American Film Institute named her the ninth-greatest female star of all time.
Huffington Post also asked Ryan why gay men have a seem to have a knack for writing fierce female characters: "I don't know if it's necessarily about writing for women … but writing for underdogs. People who are misunderstood. I can, somehow, naturally, relate to that. Go figure! [Laughs]"
We are so ready to say "Hallo" to Frau Lange!
